A quick, plain-English guide to how chartering works read it all at a glance, no digging required.
Planning your perfect yacht experience starts with your destination, preferred dates, and requirements. Whether you’re looking for an hourly escape, a full-day adventure, or a week-long luxury charter, our specialists will help you find the right yacht based on your group size, preferences, and budget.
We’ll guide you through yacht options, onboard amenities, crew arrangements, and any additional costs to ensure a seamless charter experience.
The base charter fee typically covers use of the yacht and its standard equipment, crew wages and provisions, vessel insurance and basic operating supplies. Operating expenses for your party are usually separate which is why two yachts with similar base rates can produce very different overall budgets, depending on route, cruising speed, time in port and fuel use.
APA an Advance Provisioning Allowance is an advance account the captain uses to pay your operating expenses during the trip. The captain records all spending and provides a full accounting: any unused balance is returned to you, and if costs run higher you may be asked to top it up. APA is not a fixed extra fee, nor an amount that is automatically spent in full.
Every yacht and crew is different, and the captain always holds final authority over navigation, safety, weather decisions and the operation of the yacht. When comparing yachts, it’s worth looking at:
Our charter specialists clarify your requirements, check availability and itinerary viability, advise on regulations and extra costs, and explain exactly how APA works then coordinate with the yacht’s representatives so everything is ready before you step aboard. Personal, expert advice from first enquiry to final sunset.
